On Saturday, January 26th, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 PM, I was joined by 20 volunteers gathered at Cradles to Crayons Chicago to enjoy a morning of service as families.
I’ve said this before, but it is hard to find volunteer events that are family friendly – like, under 5 years old family-friendly – but, I did!
Last summer, I was introduced to Cradles to Crayons with a group of co-workers and I immediately thought this would be a great place for Moms Winning to host a family volunteer event.
When we arrived to the facility, we enjoyed coffee and donuts and wrote affirmation cards for children’s book bags while we waited on other volunteer groups to arrive.
Once we heard an overall presentation, we were assigned to the Toy Shop where we restored donated toys for their future young owners.
The children volunteers were thrilled to get to work (play) with toys and some even reminisced with toys they previously owned too.
Moms made new friends and chatted up on current events and all things #momlife. Thanks to all of our volunteers and Cradles to Crayons Chicago.
Check out the video I put together capturing the day’s activities.
The next event will be held Saturday, March 2th, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Sign up here! I’m committing to having a volunteer event every season, if possible.
Moms, what ways to do you model service for your family? I’d love to hear your best practices and tools. Comment below.
