It’s Talk Tuesday: a day when we reflect on language, the “power of the tongue”, use of words…or just a relevant topic pertaining to mommy-hood. ?
Today I want to share with you how I ditched coffee. I know, I know…why on earth would I do that!? ? Well….the story is…last June, I made some major changes to my daily nutrition life (more on that in another post). As a mommy of two young children, now 4 and 5, I’ve been on a mission to make whatever changes I need to in order TO HAVE ENOUGH energy to keep up with my little people. ???
During this ‘call to (nutritional) action’, I had to be REAL honest with my addiction to coffee. ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ (?…how sweet it is..to be loved by you…?). I could have 2-3 cups a day, any time of day. I mean, if I felt low-energy around 2 p.m. = ☕️, and that was after my ‘wake-up-in-the-morning’ ☕️. Anyways, long story short, I wanted to rid myself of food and beverage addictions. At least try, right? ?
After some research, because I still wanted something warm to drink in the morning, I found this great recipe on Pinterest (of course!) for a morning beverage. The recipe is based on a non-dairy beverage and includes cocoa powder, matcha powder, turmeric, cinnamon, coconut oil and maca powder. I gave it a try and loved it! After 1 week without coffee, I realized a couple of things: 1) my eyes were whiter ? (the sclera is what this area is called), 2) I was more in tune with my body and when it was tired (a lot more tired than I realized), and 3) I was less irritable ?. All those reasons are why I’ve kept off the coffee 4 months later. If anything, I have a decaf every now and then but I’m not committed to it.
Here’s the link for the Morning Mocha Matcha Drink.
What about you moms? Any food/beverage addictions you need to break? Write me a note or comment. Thanks!
Let’s Win,

Thanks for the post! I’ve never been a loyal coffee drinker, but I agree with you sometimes you just want something warm to perk you up in the mornings. I will have to give your mocha matcha beverage a try!
Thanks for the comment VJ. Let me know how you like it.
